The eighth meeting of the Supreme Council of Iran-Turkey Cooperation took place in Ankara, featuring the presence of both nations’ presidents.

Building upon the previous year’s meeting during President Recep Erdogan’s visit to Tehran, Iran and Turkey have solidified their partnership by signing 10 cooperation agreements. These agreements aim to expand economic cooperation and enhance regional interactions across various sectors, including railways, energy, and joint communications.

Further, following the 8th Meeting of the Türkiye-Iran High-Level Cooperation Council and the signing of these significant agreements at the Presidential Complex, the two leaders conducted a joint press conference.

During the conference, President Erdogan emphasized the importance of deepening relations with Iran, highlighting their status as neighbors and their commitment to mutual trust and shared interests.

“We attach importance to deepening our relations with Iran, our neighbor, on the basis of mutual trust and shared interests. We have reaffirmed this will during our meeting,” the Turkish President said.

Moreover the Turkish President also elaborated on the discussions focussed during his meeting with the Iranian counterpart. He reiterated their discussions on concrete areas of cooperation, regional and international relations, including addressing Israel’s actions in Gaza and occupied Palestinian territories. The leaders exchanged views on various matters within their common agenda, ranging from counterterrorism efforts to energy, trade, and education. They also reviewed previous decisions made in former council meetings.

“During today’s meeting, we have discussed areas of concrete cooperation as well as regional and international relations, particularly Israel’s attacks on Gaza and occupied Palestinian lands. We exchanged views on the issues that are on our common agenda from the fight against terror to energy, trade to education. We have followed up on the decisions we had taken in the former council meetings,” said the Turkish President.

Additionally, the leaders also engaged in discussions concerning the situation in Palestine. President Erdogan and Iran’s President Raisi exchanged views on recent developments in Palestine, as well as regional issues in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and South Caucasia. Both leaders emphasized their countries’ focus on the Palestinian issue, maintaining their focus at safeguarding ‘Gazan brothers and sisters’ security, welfare and future’.
