A serious accident inside a Greater Noida West residential society has raised questions over internal safety protocols after a 32-year-old IT professional allegedly rammed his SUV into three housekeeping workers, leaving them injured. The incident, which took place on Friday morning at the parking ramp of Supertech Ecovillage-2, quickly escalated into public concern as residents circulated videos showing the aftermath and bloodstains near the vehicle. Police later arrested the driver, identified as a resident of the same society, while preliminary findings indicate that he had already been involved in another road accident minutes before the crash. The case has highlighted growing anxieties over rash driving inside gated communities and the lack of strict regulation on internal vehicular movement despite frequent complaints from residents.
The Incident Unfolds on the High-Rise Parking Ramp as Workers Begin Their Morning Shift
According to police officials investigating the case, the accident occurred around 8 a.m., a busy hour when housekeeping and maintenance staff often reach the society’s internal zones to begin their routine duties. The victims—identified as Raju and Maniram, both in their forties, and Monika, aged 30—were walking down the designated ramp towards the parking area when the speeding SUV struck them from behind. All three are employed as housekeeping personnel at Supertech Ecovillage-2 and were on their way to the parking lot to collect equipment and begin their morning shift.
Eyewitness accounts provided by residents and security staff suggest that the impact was severe enough to drag Monika under the vehicle, trapping her beneath the SUV for several minutes. Her injuries were described as grievous but not life-threatening after timely rescue and medical attention. The two male workers also sustained multiple injuries but were declared out of danger by doctors.
Local residents who were in the vicinity said they heard a loud thud followed by screams for help. Security guards and several bystanders immediately rushed toward the spot. Some residents used wooden blocks and tools to lift part of the vehicle, enabling them to pull Monika out. Video footage circulating on social media shows bloodstains on the wheels and frantic efforts by locals to assist the victims. These visuals have intensified public anger over careless driving inside residential complexes.
Police officials said that they were alerted immediately, and a team from Bisrakh police station reached the location within minutes. The driver of the SUV, Rahul Kumar, did not attempt to flee and was found at the scene, visibly shocked. However, officers detained him on the spot and later placed him under arrest.
Police have confirmed that the victims were walking on the correct side of the ramp, and there was no obstruction or unusual movement on their part that could have caused the collision. Investigators are now examining the possibility of negligence, speed, and impaired alertness on the part of the driver.
Driver’s Earlier Accident Raises Questions About His Condition and State of Mind
During interrogation, police discovered that Rahul Kumar, an IT employee working night shifts, was driving back home after completing his work when the incident took place. Officers added that the front part of his SUV was already damaged, raising suspicions that a prior collision may have contributed to his erratic driving.
Further investigation revealed that Rahul had collided with another vehicle on his way back to the society. The driver of that car reportedly began chasing him, which may have caused Rahul to panic or accelerate beyond safe speeds. This sequence of events potentially created a chain reaction that ultimately resulted in the high-impact crash inside the society.
According to the officer leading the investigation, the earlier accident was not formally reported to the police as the other driver involved did not file a complaint. Because of this, details about the first collision remain unclear. Police are attempting to trace the driver of the earlier vehicle to establish the full sequence of events leading up to the second, more serious accident on the society premises.
SHO Manoj Kumar Singh of Bisrakh police station stated that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to rash driving and actions that endanger the lives of other persons. Police are also examining the possibility of invoking additional sections if investigators find evidence suggesting intent, intoxication, fatigue, or faulty vehicle conditions.
Residents of the society have expressed anger over what they describe as repeated instances of speeding and careless driving within the premises. Many have complained about the absence of speed breakers, lack of speed monitoring devices, insufficient signage and poor vigilance by security guards regarding internal traffic.
Some residents have taken to social media to demand stricter rules for vehicles entering and leaving the society, including mandatory checks for intoxication, background verification of residents’ drivers and stricter enforcement of traffic discipline. Several residents claim that the accident could have been prevented if the society had enforced clear rules restricting speed limits on internal ramps, especially near pedestrian zones used by housekeeping and maintenance workers each morning.
Preliminary reports indicate that CCTV cameras installed inside the society’s parking area may provide crucial footage for investigators. Police teams are currently reviewing all available camera angles to reconstruct the sequence of events, vehicle trajectory, and speed. Officers said that the vehicle will undergo a mechanical inspection to determine whether technical failure played any role.
Officials are also questioning Rahul’s colleagues to determine how long he had been working prior to the accident and whether fatigue from a night shift may have contributed to reduced alertness. Police sources said that night-shift workers often return home at early hours and may be more prone to drowsy driving, especially when driving through dimly lit internal lanes of high-rise complexes.
The three injured workers have expressed shock over the accident, saying they were walking routinely on the side of the ramp when the SUV approached at high speed without warning. Their families have urged police to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that strict action is taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, residents are demanding that the management of the residential society introduce better traffic control measures, install more signboards, place rumble strips at key points, upgrade CCTV coverage, and increase security vigilance to monitor reckless driving.
Police officials said they will continue to examine all aspects of the case, including the driver’s mental state, vehicle condition, circumstances leading to the accident, and the earlier collision. Officers added that the incident demonstrates the growing need for awareness about safe driving practices even within residential premises, where pedestrians are often more vulnerable due to narrow lanes, blind spots and shared spaces between vehicles and foot traffic.
