Greater Noida Authority has taken strict action against open waste burning in the city by imposing a fine of ₹1.16 lakh on a company located in Sector Ecotech-11. The action was taken by the authority’s public health department after officials confirmed that waste was being illegally burned near the industrial premises.

According to officials, the public health department received information regarding open garbage burning in the Ecotech-11 area. Immediately after receiving the complaint, a departmental team reached the location and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that the waste had been burned by E-Garuda Electric Mobility.

After verifying the violation, the authority imposed an environmental penalty of ₹1.16 lakh on the company. Officials also issued a strict warning stating that more severe action would be taken if such negligence is repeated in the future.

The Greater Noida Authority stated that open waste burning poses a serious threat to both the environment and public health. Burning garbage in open spaces increases air pollution and releases harmful smoke and toxic gases into the atmosphere. These pollutants can lead to respiratory illnesses and other health complications, especially for people living or working nearby.

Environmental experts explain that burning waste contributes significantly to carbon emissions and releases harmful particulate matter into the air. Such pollution can affect air quality during both summer and winter seasons and may create long-term environmental damage. This is one of the main reasons why pollution control agencies and environmental authorities are taking strict action against open waste burning.

Officials clarified that under the Solid Waste Management Policy, all bulk waste generators are required to scientifically process and manage waste generated within their premises. Industrial units, companies, and large commercial establishments are not allowed to dump or burn waste openly and must follow approved waste management procedures.

Authorities believe that scientific waste management is essential for maintaining urban cleanliness and reducing environmental pollution. Many industries and institutions have already adopted waste segregation, recycling, and processing systems, but some organizations continue to violate regulations despite repeated awareness campaigns.

Additional CEO Shrilaxmi VS appealed to industries and residents to properly manage waste and avoid dumping or burning garbage in open areas. She stated that public participation is essential to keep the city clean and pollution-free.

She further added that the authority is continuously monitoring such violations and immediate action will be taken wherever incidents of illegal waste disposal or open garbage burning are reported. Teams from the public health department are conducting regular inspections in industrial and residential sectors to ensure compliance with sanitation and environmental norms.

Experts believe that solid waste management is becoming one of the biggest challenges in rapidly growing urban areas. Increasing industrial activity and population growth have led to a sharp rise in waste generation, making scientific waste disposal systems and strict enforcement increasingly important.

The action taken by the Greater Noida Authority is being viewed as a strong message regarding environmental protection and urban cleanliness. Officials have made it clear that strict action against violators will continue in the future to maintain environmental standards and ensure public health safety.
