As Google prepares for the release of its highly anticipated Pixel 9 series on August 13, new information has emerged about the flagship device, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This upcoming foldable smartphone, the second foldable from Google and its first to be launched in India, is generating considerable buzz. Despite limited official details, leaks and rumors are providing insights into what users can expect from this cutting-edge device.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is set to feature a significantly larger display compared to its predecessor, the Pixel Fold. Leaks suggest that the inner display will measure 8 inches diagonally, an upgrade from the previous model’s 7.4-inch screen. This new display is expected to offer a resolution of 2152 x 2076 pixels, peak brightness of 1,600 nits, and support for a 120Hz refresh rate, enhancing the visual experience significantly. In contrast, the original Pixel Fold’s display was limited to 1,000 nits of peak brightness.
The outer display of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will also see improvements, growing to 6.24 inches, which is 0.4 inches larger than its predecessor. Although details about the display crease have not been confirmed, the increased screen size and reduced bezel size are expected to offer a more immersive viewing experience. The inner screen is rumored to include a punch-hole camera positioned on the left side, replacing the bezel-mounted camera of the previous model.
Regarding pricing, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is anticipated to be priced at €1,899 (approximately Rs 173,000) for the 256GB variant and €2,029 (approximately Rs 184,000) for the 512GB version. The device will reportedly be available in two colors: Obsidian and Porcelain.
Design-wise, Google has teased the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s appearance ahead of the official launch event. The teaser reveals a sleek design featuring dual-pill-shaped camera cutouts arranged on a rectangular island in the top-left corner of the rear panel. The official announcement is scheduled for August 13 at 10 AM PT (10:30 PM IST).
As the launch date approaches, more details about the Pixel 9 Pro Fold are expected to surface, promising a new standard in foldable technology from Google.
