Nepal’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has sent teams to Hong Kong and New Delhi to collect information about international gold smuggling racket. Nepal is being used as a transit point. The two teams will collect information from investigating agencies in Hong Kong and Delhi. CIB has already written to these agencies.
Additional Inspector General of CIB Kiran Vajracharya said Nepal sought the help of Interpol in detecting the nexus between gold smuggles in Hong Kong, India, China, and Nepal.
Meanwhile, based on the information provided by a Chinese national who was arrested in Nepal, one Kishor Basnet was arrested in Delhi and brought to Kathmandu in this connection.
The Beijing branch of Interpol is helping CIB in the investigations.
