Delhi Government Cabinet Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh on Tuesday described the Union Budget 2026–27 as a “Next Generation Budget,” stating that it will further strengthen India’s economic foundation while giving fresh momentum to Delhi’s overall development.
Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat, the minister said that under the decisive and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged as a reliable global economic power. The growing confidence of international investors and recent global trade decisions clearly reflect this transformation.
Referring to the United States’ decision to reduce tariffs on Indian products to 18 percent, Parvesh Sahib Singh termed it a major economic achievement for India. He said the move demonstrates increasing global trust in India’s strength, stability, and long-term growth potential.
He added that the decision would directly benefit Indian exporters, boost international trade, and open new investment opportunities, sending a positive signal to the global economic community.
Praising the Union Budget 2026–27, the minister emphasized that it is focused not on short-term gains but on long-term nation building. He said the budget lays out a clear roadmap for achieving the vision of a developed India and a developed Delhi by 2047.
Highlighting infrastructure expansion in Delhi, Parvesh Sahib Singh stated that the Public Works Department received an allocation of ₹805 crore for road development in the current financial year. For 2026–27, the department is making efforts to secure nearly ₹1,200 crore in central assistance and allocations to undertake large-scale road strengthening and expansion works.
He said the enhanced central support would significantly improve road quality in the capital, strengthen traffic management systems, and ensure greater safety for commuters.
The minister further noted that, as the national capital, improved coordination between the central government and the Delhi government has accelerated project execution. Several long-pending infrastructure projects are now progressing at full pace.
Speaking on governance reforms, he said that over the past 11 months, increased stability, accountability, and administrative efficiency have enabled the revival of stalled development initiatives.
He remarked that earlier political conflicts had repeatedly hindered Delhi’s development, whereas today, work is progressing with focus, transparency, and speed.
Concluding his address, Parvesh Sahib Singh said that despite global economic challenges, India is rapidly moving towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He stated that strong leadership, growing global confidence, and visionary policies together are shaping a powerful and prosperous future for both India and Delhi.
