Following reports of illness after consuming buckwheat flour (H Pure Brand) in Greater Noida West, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) acted promptly and decisively. Assistant Commissioner of Food, Shri Sarvesh Mishra, informed that under the directions of the District Magistrate, affected individuals were contacted, and retail outlets were immediately inspected for verification and sample collection.

Samples were collected from Eco Village 3 Supertech (Vikas General Store), Apna Store (Himalayan Pride), and Prashant Store (Royal Court). Each store was found to be operating without valid food licenses or registration and was sealed immediately. Owners were instructed to strictly comply with food safety regulations.
Further investigation led to H D Spices, located in Chipyana Buzurg, as the supplier of the flour. While no buckwheat flour or groats were found on site, turmeric and chili powder samples were collected. The unit operator, Mr Vishwendra Singh, admitted supplying the flour to the retail stores.
The investigation also revealed that the production unit, although located in Gautam Buddh Nagar, was operating with misleading registration obtained from Ghaziabad. Consequently, the unit was sealed and all collected samples sent to the laboratory for testing. A formal complaint has been filed at Bisrakh Police Station, and legal proceedings are underway.
FSSAI emphasized that consumer safety remains the top priority, and no unit operating without license will be tolerated. Citizens are urged to report any suspicious food products immediately. The action demonstrates the government’s commitment to public health and strict enforcement of food safety regulations.
The Food Safety Department also announced that strict monitoring, regular inspections, and unannounced checks will continue to ensure consumers have access to safe and quality food products. Legal actions against violating units will be pursued vigorously, setting a strong precedent for compliance and accountability in the food industry.
This proactive approach reinforces that food safety, license compliance, and consumer protection are non-negotiable priorities for the administration. It sends a clear message that any violation will face immediate action and that the health and safety of the public is paramount.
