Ranchi, 1 September : In the last fodder scam case (Case No. RC 48A/96), the special CBI court on Friday heard the point of punishment against the 36 convicts. The court sentenced all the culprits to four years of imprisonment. The case pertains to the illegal withdrawal of Rs 36.59 crore from the Doranda treasury.
The then-District Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Gauri Shankar Prasad, is also included in the punishment. Gauri Shankar Prasad has been fined one crore by the court apart from the four-year sentence. Apart from this, many other culprits have been fined three lakh each. The hearing took place in the court of Special CBI Judge Vishal Srivastava.

On August 28, the court acquitted 35 of the 124 accused in the case, while 53 convicts, including former MLA Gulshan Lal Ajmani, were sentenced to two to three years’ imprisonment. The lower court had granted him bail. Now they will appeal in the High Court. Special Public Prosecutor Ravi Shankar appeared on behalf of the CBI in the case.
