Mumbai, 12 March ; Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis has been summoned by Cyber Cell of BKC Police Station on Sunday for interrogation in the corruption charges he had made against Mahavikas Aghadi Government, in March last year.
Fadnavis, during a press conference on Saturday stated that he had handed over all the documents to the Home Secretary, Government of India. The Court had ordered CBI enquiry into the charges of corruption in transfer of senior officers, including police officers. The enquiry is in progress and Maharashtra’s former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh is in jail.
A complaint against him (Fadnavis) was lodged by the MVA government alleging leakage of official secrets. The police has issued summons under Section 160 of CrPC (Criminal Procedure Code). Earlier two questionnaire were sent to him. He has replied on one and will furnish the details relating to the other.
Fadnavis alleged that this was a vindictive action by MVA Government. The report of corruption in transfers was pending with the Government for about six months. No action was initiated and now the same Government has approached CBI for enquiry. On the one hand he is being charged for leaking official secrets and at the same time a minister gave information about it to the media, of which adequate evidence is available, he said.
Instead of initiating action against corrupt officials and ministers, one who exposed the scandal is being held guilty by the Government, he charged. Fadnavis also stated that he will present himself at the Cyber cell of BKC Police and volunteered to co-operate.
