New Delhi, 20 December 2025:
Delhi Health and Transport Minister, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, on Friday strongly criticised the Opposition for resorting to personal allegations and objectionable remarks targeting women leadership, stressing that public debate should focus on governance and performance rather than petty politics. Addressing a press conference, the minister emphasised that poster campaigns and derogatory comments against the city’s Chief Minister are both unfortunate and completely unacceptable in a democratic system.
Dr. Singh pointed out that narrow politics and baseless allegations cannot mislead the people of Delhi. “Had the Opposition genuinely worked for the citizens during its tenure, the situation in the city would have been far better. Unfortunately, their focus remained on political interests rather than public welfare,” he said. The minister questioned whether such conduct reflects the standards expected from public leaders, emphasising that targeting a woman leader through personal attacks has no place in democratic governance.
Highlighting the need for accountability and evidence-based discussions, Dr. Singh challenged the Opposition to engage in debates on real issues. He specifically urged Arvind Kejriwal to present at least five concrete initiatives undertaken during his ten-year tenure and clarify the steps taken to strengthen Delhi’s health and transport infrastructure.
Contrasting the performance of the current government with that of the previous administration, Dr. Singh noted that key sectors like health and transport were pushed into losses amounting to thousands of crores under the Opposition. “In comparison, the present government is committed to reforms, accountability, and outcome-oriented governance. Every initiative is aimed at delivering tangible results for Delhi’s citizens,” he added.
On the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), the minister expressed confidence that the corporation is on track to move from losses to profitability within this year. He assured that positive and visible outcomes in public transport will be evident on the ground in the coming months, reflecting the government’s commitment to efficiency and citizen-focused service delivery.
Reiterating the government’s approach, Dr. Singh emphasised that the Delhi administration believes in work over politics. “The people have placed their trust in the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a ‘Viksit Delhi,’ and our government continues to work relentlessly and with full commitment to honour that mandate,” he said.
Through his statements, Dr. Singh underscored that constructive debate in Delhi should focus on policy, developmental outcomes, and service delivery, rather than personal attacks or derogatory campaigns against women leaders. He reaffirmed the government’s emphasis on integrity, transparency, and accountable governance as the foundation of its administration.
