New Delhi, September 4: Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Dr. P.K. Mishra visited various sites in Delhi last evening to review preparations for the upcoming G-20 summit. He was accompanied by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena. After taking stock of the decoration and security of all the places related to the organisation of the G-20 summit, Dr. P.K. Mishra also listed out some suggestions to be made ahead of the mega event.

It is pertinent to note that, the Principal Secretary is also the Chairman of the Coordination Committee related to the preparations for the G-20 Summit.

The Government of India, and especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making no stones unturned to give a glimpse of India’s culture and world-class experience to all the heads of state and other international dignitaries coming for the G-20 Summit. Moreover, the government is making all possible efforts to highlight India’s prestige and prowess at the global stage.

G20 summit: Transforming New Delhi’s landscape

For the G-20 summit, the outer areas of Rajghat as well as major places and intersections in Delhi have been beautified. ‘Shiva-Nataraja’ has been established in the Bharata Mandapam. Weighing approximately 20 tonnes, the 27-foot-tall Nataraja figure has been carved using traditional casting methods made of Ashta-dhatu. The tallest bronze statue of Nataraja is in front of the Bharat Mandapam, built for the summit at Pragati Maidan.

The beautification campaign was carried out from the New Delhi area to the airport under the chairmanship of the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and under the regular supervision of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Apart from the cleanliness campaign, beautiful water fountains have been installed at various places. A large number of sculptures and posters have been installed across the city to showcase the diversity of the country, creating a captivating sight for travellers and visitors. The national flags of G-20 countries have been displayed in important places.
