The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the date sheet for the 2025 board exams for both Class 10 and Class 12 students. The exams are set to begin on February 15, 2025, with the Class 10 exams starting with English as the first subject, while the Class 12 exams will commence with Entrepreneurship. The release of the date sheet provides students with ample time to prepare for the upcoming exams and ensure that they are aware of the schedule for their respective subjects.
As part of its ongoing efforts to foster a healthy academic environment, CBSE will not be releasing the merit list or the division-wise marks for the board exams in 2025. This decision, which has been in place since the pandemic, aims to eliminate unhealthy competition among students. The move was initially introduced during the pandemic-induced lockdown when results were based on marks secured in online exams. Since then, the board has continued with the policy of not announcing the merit list or topper lists, aligning with its objective to focus more on individual academic performance rather than ranking students.
Regarding the eligibility criteria, students appearing for the CBSE board exams in 2025 must secure at least 33 percent marks to qualify. This includes scoring a minimum of 33 percent overall and ensuring they meet the individual subject requirements.
CBSE also clarified rumors regarding syllabus reductions, affirming that there will be no reduction of 15 percent in the syllabus for the 2025 exams. The board made it clear that there have been no changes in the exam pattern for the upcoming year, and it also confirmed that there will be no open-book exams conducted for the 2025 board exams. This announcement puts to rest any concerns about changes in the examination format or syllabus.
In addition to the theoretical exams, the CBSE had earlier issued a notification outlining the schedule for practical exams. The practical exams for Class 10 will be held from January 1, 2025, while those for Class 12 will begin from February 15, 2025, coinciding with the start of the theory exams. The bifurcation of marks for theory, practicals, projects, and internal assessments has also been detailed, ensuring that students are fully informed about the evaluation process.
These announcements mark the beginning of preparations for the 2025 CBSE board exams, and students are encouraged to stay updated on all developments as they approach the crucial exam period.
