The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the date sheet for the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams for 2025. The exams are set to commence on February 15, 2025, for both classes, with Class 10 beginning with the English paper and Class 12 starting with Entrepreneurship. As part of the preparations, CBSE has also shared the detailed marking scheme for the Class 10 Mathematics exam, which will be conducted for both Basic and Standard Mathematics.
The Class 10 Mathematics paper for 2025 will include 38 questions divided across five sections: A, B, C, D, and E. The Basic Mathematics paper starts with Section A, containing multiple-choice questions (MCQs) numbered 1 to 18, followed by two assertion-reason-based questions, each carrying 1 mark. Section B includes very short answer (VSA) type questions, numbered 21 to 25, with each question worth 2 marks. Section C features short answer (SA) type questions, numbered 26 to 31, carrying 3 marks each. In Section D, long answer (LA) type questions, numbered 32 to 35, are valued at 5 marks each. Finally, Section E contains case study-based questions, numbered 36 to 38, with each question carrying 4 marks, divided into sub-parts of 1, 1, and 2 marks respectively.
Similarly, the Standard Mathematics paper will follow the same structure and marking scheme. Both papers will provide internal choice in specific sections, with two questions in Sections B, C, and D offering options. Additionally, all 2-mark questions in Section E will include internal choice. These internal choices aim to give students flexibility and ease in answering questions.
CBSE has made it clear that all questions are mandatory to attempt in both the Basic and Standard Mathematics papers. The inclusion of internal choice in key sections ensures students can play to their strengths while attempting the paper. The marking scheme has been designed to maintain consistency across both versions of the Mathematics exam while accommodating the different levels of difficulty between Basic and Standard Mathematics.
In addition to the theoretical exams, CBSE has also announced the schedule for practical examinations. Class 10 practical exams will begin on January 1, 2025, while Class 12 practicals will coincide with the start of the written exams on February 15, 2025.
Students and educators are encouraged to review the marking scheme thoroughly and incorporate the structured format into their preparation strategies to maximize performance in the upcoming board exams.
