A loud blast outside BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia’s residence in Jalandhar in the early hours of Tuesday has triggered a police investigation, with suspicions of a grenade attack. Manoranjan Kalia, who was asleep during the incident, initially mistook the sound for thunder. The explosion, which occurred around 1 am, has raised alarm about the security situation in the area, prompting forensic analysis and a review of CCTV footage.
Manoranjan Kalia Recounts Incident as Investigation Begins
Speaking to the media later in the day, Manoranjan Kalia said he was unaware of the seriousness of the sound at the time. “I was sleeping and thought it was thunder. Later, I was told that there had been a blast,” he said. He immediately sent his security personnel to the local police station to report the matter. The police responded swiftly and began examining the scene. Forensic experts have been deployed to determine the nature of the blast and whether it was indeed a grenade attack. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being reviewed to identify any suspicious activity or persons involved.
Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur confirmed that police were alerted about the blast at 1 am and that an investigation is ongoing. “We are working with the forensic team to identify the exact cause of the explosion. The possibility of a grenade attack has not been ruled out,” she said. No casualties have been reported so far, but the incident has led to heightened security in the area.
