Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Telangana’s Chevella Lok Sabha constituency, addressed various issues ranging from the BJP’s manifesto to political speculations surrounding alliances and candidacies.
Responding to criticism from Revanth Reddy, who labeled the BJP’s manifesto as a “post-dated cheque drawn on a failing bank,” Reddy countered by questioning the credibility of the statement coming from a leader in charge of a financially troubled state. Revanth Reddy defended the BJP’s vision outlined in its manifesto, contrasting it with what he deemed as election-centric manifestos from the Congress.
Revanth Reddy dismissed allegations of an understanding between the BJP and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), emphasizing the support he has received from Congress cadres in his constituency. He attributed such accusations to the Congress’s recurring narrative of BJP-BRS collusion, asserting its desperation.
Addressing the absence of a projected prime ministerial candidate from the Congress, Revanth Reddy speculated that the party refrains from showcasing Rahul Gandhi due to apprehensions about losing votes. He attributed the Congress’s strategies to promising unviable freebies and resorting to mudslinging against the opposition.
On allegations of vendetta politics regarding K Kavitha’s custody, Revanth Reddy dismissed them as baseless, asserting that the BJP lacks the power to influence such matters. He attributed the accusations to a lingering power hangover within the BRS.
Revanth Reddy addressed speculations surrounding his potential shift to the BJP, acknowledging the fluidity of political alliances and suggesting that Revanth’s focus on acquiring power could lead to unexpected developments.
Discussing the BJP’s prospects in Chevella, Reddy expressed confidence in securing victory, citing his local roots and the Modi wave. He outlined campaign strategies tailored to the constituency’s demographic composition, emphasizing urban-rural dynamics.
Furthermore, Revanth Reddy highlighted key issues in rural areas, including irrigation water scarcity and crop loss, proposing alternative solutions to existing projects. He advocated for promoting dryland agriculture and improving civic infrastructure, emphasizing collaboration between the Centre and local authorities.
In response to allegations of phone tapping, Revanth Reddy confirmed such practices by previous governments, citing personal experiences and ongoing legal battles.
Regarding BJP’s overall electoral performance, Revanth Reddy expressed optimism, predicting the party’s success in securing more than ten seats. He hinted at potential electoral upsets, including Madhavi Latha’s candidacy challenging AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi in Hyderabad, which, according to Reddy, would debunk allegations of BJP’s religious bias.
In his closing remarks,Revanth Reddy emphasized BJP’s nationalist ideology and its appeal beyond religious affiliations, positioning the party as a unifying force in Indian politics.
