The political battlefield between BJP and Congress intensified this week with a series of allegations and counter-allegations. While Congress tried to corner the BJP over the Adani issue, it found itself grappling with accusations linking its leader Sonia Gandhi to George Soros and Rahul Gandhi to Nepal-based Naxal meetings.
For weeks, Congress aggressively raised questions about Gautam Adani, creating a ruckus in Parliament. However, BJP countered by accusing Sonia Gandhi of being a co-chairperson of a George Soros-led organization. BJP alleged that Soros, who has controversially supported Kashmir’s independence, has ties with Congress, placing the party in a defensive position.
Adding fuel to the fire, Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar sparked outrage from Congress and opposition parties, who termed it disrespectful. Heated discussions in Parliament escalated to a physical altercation, with Rahul Gandhi accused of pushing BJP MPs. An FIR has been filed against Gandhi, leaving Congress scrambling to manage the fallout.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis alleged that a secret meeting was held in Kathmandu in November 2024, involving 40 urban Naxal organizations. According to Fadnavis, the gathering aimed to campaign for ballot-based elections in BJP-led states. He claimed these groups are linked to Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and shared proof of their involvement in past anti-BJP campaigns.
The accusations have put Congress on the back foot. Despite its efforts to target BJP over Adani, the party now faces internal and external scrutiny. Political tensions in Maharashtra have risen, with BJP leveraging Fadnavis’s revelations to corner Congress.
As Parliament sessions ended indefinitely on Friday, both parties took their battles to the streets. Congress is left defending the FIR against Rahul Gandhi, while BJP amplifies its narrative, accusing Congress of being aligned with anti-national forces.
