In a resolute address to the Arab League, Oman underscored its unwavering commitment to the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, emphasizing their freedom, security, and right to self-determination in an independent state.
Ambassador Abdullah bin Nasser Alrahbi, Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, delivered a compelling message during the 161st session of the Council of the Arab League at the level of foreign ministers, convened at the League’s headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
Ambassador Alrahbi conveyed Oman’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, asserting the paramount importance of convening an international conference that brings together all relevant stakeholders and components of Palestinian society to expedite a comprehensive and effective solution.
Expressing grave concern over the escalating tensions in the region, Ambassador Alrahbi condemned the unjust Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the loss of tens of thousands of innocent lives, including women, children, and youth.
The Ambassador stressed the imperative for an independent investigation into Israel’s aggression and advocated for Israel to be held accountable for its deliberate targeting of civilians and vital infrastructure in Gaza. He condemned Israel’s denial of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, describing it as a form of collective punishment and a violation of their basic rights.
Reaffirming Oman’s unwavering stance, Ambassador Alrahbi reiterated that the establishment of a Palestinian state is not just a political objective but an existential necessity. He warned against the dire consequences of neglecting this imperative, asserting that without a sovereign state, Palestinians remain vulnerable to perpetual destitution and existential threats.
