Dhaka, 14 Aug : About 30 villages in Rangpur region of Bangladesh were inundated as the Tista River is overflowing above the danger mark. More than 20,000 people in these villages are held up due to floods.
According to the Water Development Board of Bangladesh, the Tista River crossed the danger level on Monday and is flowing 20 cm above the danger mark at Dalia Barrage. All 44 gates of the Gajoldoba Tista barrage were opened on Sunday night.
Executive Engineer of the Board Robiul Islam has appealed to the people in the vicinity of the river to move to safer places. Gangachara authorities have also warned people to move to safer places, as the Gangachara region is also likely to be flooded.
