Pune, 19 Aug :- The new terminal building at Pune Airport is likely to be opened by the end of September. The work is in full swing and almost 95 per cent of it has been completed.
The New Integrated Terminal Building will have a built-up area of 50,000 sqm, with a capacity to handle 16 million passengers per annum. The building will have ten aerobridges and 72 check-in counters. Out of the 10, three aerobridges will connect the old and the new terminal buildings. The international flights will take off from the new terminal, a local news portal has reported.
The work on the new terminal began in 2018. The work worth Rs 475 crore (Rs 4.75 billion) was delayed due to the Corona pandemic. The new terminal would curtail crowding. The new building would showcase several historical landmarks of the state.
