Bareilly, 08 Sept (HS): According to authorities, a Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district was raped and force-fed beef after being drugged by two Muslim males. The survivor’s acquaintance, a Muslim woman, was also complicit in the crime. According to authorities, the woman summoned the survivor to a hotel, where she was gang-raped. The suspects, Shoaib, a B Pharma student, and Nazim, a barber, recorded the incident and blackmailed the survivor for Rs 5 lakh.
They later emailed the footage to the survivor’s fiancee and attempted to leave to Kashmir, where Nazim’s store is.
Disgusted by the extortion, the survivor filed a police report. The survivor allegedly borrowed money from a Muslim buddy and intended to repay it. The accused lady summoned her to a cafe on September 2, when the other two guys were also present. She was then duped into travelling to a hotel and being gang-raped.
A case was registered under relevant sections of the SC/ST Act based on the victim’s complaint. Extortion was also involved. All of the suspects have been apprehended, a top police officer stated.
