A woman was forcibly removed from an IndiGo flight at Pune’s Lohgaon Airport on August 17 after allegedly assaulting fellow passengers, slapping a security official, and biting her hand during the boarding process. The incident, which occurred around 7:45 am, involved the Pune-Delhi flight (6E 5261) as passengers were boarding.
According to police reports, the woman first attacked two of her co-passengers who were seated in their assigned places. The situation rapidly deteriorated, prompting the flight crew to intervene. To manage the escalating conflict, two Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constables, Priyanka Reddy and Sonika Pal, were called to the scene.
The altercation intensified when the woman allegedly slapped Constable Reddy and bit her hand. Despite the aggressive behavior, the CISF personnel were able to restrain the woman and escort her and her husband off the aircraft. Following their removal from the flight, the couple was handed over to airport police for further action.
The incident was registered under Section 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to intentionally insulting or provoking others to cause a breach of peace and public tranquility. The case is currently under investigation by the local authorities.
This episode follows a similar event involving a woman on a Mumbai-bound Akasa Air flight from Lucknow. In that case, the individual was deboarded for misbehaving with both the crew and other passengers.
The removal of the woman from the IndiGo flight underscores ongoing concerns about passenger behavior on flights and the measures required to maintain order and ensure the safety and comfort of all individuals on board.
