In a tragic incident, a woman lost her life and three others were injured when a portion of the Rubinisa Manzil building on Grant Road in Mumbai collapsed following heavy rainfall. The collapse, which occurred earlier today, involved the front portion of the four-storey building, including parts of the second and third floors and a balcony.
At the time of the collapse, approximately 35-40 individuals were inside the building. Thankfully, all occupants were safely evacuated. Emergency services arrived promptly, with fire engines, police, and ambulances at the scene to manage the situation.
Local residents played a crucial role in the immediate aftermath of the incident, lifting concrete slabs to rescue a man trapped under the debris. Visuals from the scene show a portion of the building’s front still hanging precariously, posing an ongoing risk.
This collapse marks the first major building failure of the monsoon season, which has seen heavy rainfall impacting Mumbai and surrounding regions over the past three days.
