Lisbon, 12 Sept : Sao Lourenco de Bairro villagers were shocked to see a river of red wine flowing on its streets. The wine entered the basements of several buildings.
A distillery, transporting the wine, apologised for the incident as a tanker carrying more than 580,000 gallons of wine burst near the village. The distillery has assured to handle cleanup, repair and damage caused due to the incident that occurred in the hilly village. The cause of the burst was under investigation.
No Injuries were reported, according to new reports.
The distillery said its bountiful storage was the result of the government response to a wine surplus in Europe, caused by decreasing demand.
