Which Women Athletes Have Won Medals for the Country? | Paris Olympics 2024 | CliqSED

The Olympics is a tournament where top athletes from around the world compete in various sports. The Olympics is a sporting event that is a dream for any athlete from every country. Winning a medal in the Olympics is a matter of pride for any nation. India’s performance was good in the last Olympics. This time, 117 athletes from India are participating in 16 sports. Let’s now learn about the female athletes from our country who have won medals.

The first woman from India to win an Olympic medal is Karnam Malleswari. Karnam Malleswari won the only bronze medal for the country in the 69 kg category at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. She became the first Indian woman to achieve this.

Next is the legendary boxer Mary Kom, who won India’s first medal in boxing at the 2012 London Olympics. Mary Kom won a bronze medal for India in the 51 kg category.

That same year, India also made a breakthrough in badminton when it won its first-ever medal in the sport. The player was Saina Nehwal, who won a bronze medal for the country in women’s singles.

Following her is P.V. Sindhu. She won a silver medal for the country at the Rio Olympics 2016 and a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. With these medals, Sindhu became the first woman to win two individual medals in the Olympics. This time, there is also hope for a medal from Sindhu.

At the Rio Olympics 2016, wrestler Sakshi Malik won a bronze medal in the 58 kg category in wrestling.

Next is Mirabai Chanu, who won a silver medal for the country in weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics, and this time she will be aiming for her second Olympic medal.

Boxer Lovlina Borgohain also won a bronze medal for the country in boxing at the Tokyo Olympics, and there is hope for another Olympic medal from her this time as well.
