Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 25 (ANI): Shiv Sena MP Rahul Shewale said on Wednesday that four members, Vinayak Raut, Omprakash Rajenimbalkar, Rajan Vichare, and Sanjay Jadhav, were absent during the voting on the Women’s Reservation Bill and their absence is an insult to women, so the party will seek an answer from them legally.

Shewale said, “The Women’s Reservation Bill is an important and historic bill. Unfortunately, four members, Vinayak Raut, Omprakash Rajenimbalkar, Rajan Vichare, and Sanjay Jadhav were absent during the voting on the Women’s Reservation Bill. Their absence is an insult to women. We will seek an answer (from) them legally.”

“A special session of Parliament was called on September 18- 22. Before the session, we issued a whip to all Shiv Sena members through WhatsApp, email and port. The Nari Shakti Vandan Act 2023 is an important and historical bill. And I consider myself lucky that I got the chance to vote at that historic ball.

“But unfortunately, four of our members, Vinayak Raut, Om Prakash Rajya Nibalkar, Rajan Vichare, Sanjay Jadhav, were absent during the voting on the Women’s Reservation Bill. This is a very unfortunate thing; we are following the ideas of Bala Saheb Thackeray Ji. Bala Saheb Thackeray Ji had earlier supported the women’s reservation bill. This is an insult to the women in their parliamentary constituency. This woman will also demand their answers regarding this bill of rights; the entire people of Maharashtra will also demand their answers; therefore we, on behalf of Shiv Sena will seek answers from them legally.”

Meanwhile, the women’s reservation bill was passed by the Parliament and it became law after receiving assent from President Droupadi Murmu

The ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhniyam’, which provides 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha as well as the state legislative assemblies, was unanimously passed by the Rajya Sabha, becoming the first bill to be passed in the new Parliament building.

On September 20, the Bill was passed following division with 454 members voting in favour of the legislation and two against it on the motion seeking its passage.

The amendments moved by the opposition members were negatived and separate clauses of the draft legislation were also voted on.

On September 21, Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam was ‘unanimously’ passed in Rajya Sabha which marks the PM’s birthday according to the Hindu calendar. (ANI)
