The Lok Sabha seat of Wayanad in Kerala emerges as a focal point of attention with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, BJP’s K Surendran, and Annie Raja of the Communist Party of India engaging in a three-way contest.
As of 10 am, early trends reveal Rahul Gandhi’s commanding lead by over 80,000 votes, surpassing CPI’s Annie Raja.
Notably, Rahul Gandhi maintains a lead in both Rae Bareli and Wayanad constituencies.
Wayanad, established post-delimitation in 2008, has remained under Congress control since 2009. In the 2019 elections, Rahul Gandhi secured an impressive victory with 65% of the vote share, garnering over seven lakh votes. His substantial victory margin of 4.31 lakh votes over CPI’s P P Suneer underscored his stronghold in the hill constituency.
Following his defeat in Amethi to BJP’s Smriti Irani, Wayanad has become Rahul Gandhi’s primary seat.
The intense competition in Wayanad, particularly within the context of the Congress-CPI alliance under the INDIA coalition, has garnered widespread public interest. Rahul Gandhi’s extensive campaigning, including over 100 rallies and public interaction programmes nationwide, has further fueled anticipation surrounding the election outcome.
