As the counting of votes commences for the world’s largest elections, the Lok Sabha results are eagerly anticipated. Conducted over 7 phases from April 19 to June 1, early trends indicate a fierce battle between the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Opposition bloc, INDIA. Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeks a historic third term, while the INDIA bloc aims to secure a Lok Sabha majority by consolidating seats won by member parties.
Exit polls uniformly forecast an enhanced performance for the NDA in the southern states.
In Andhra Pradesh, analysts anticipate the NDA’s alliance with Chandrababu Naidu to yield favourable results, with an expected victory in 18 out of 25 seats.
Likewise, in Karnataka, the BJP is poised to secure a significant majority despite historical Congress leanings.
In Telangana, exit polls suggest a challenging scenario for the Congress, following their previous assembly poll victory. The BJP is expected to secure over half of the state’s 17 seats after the decline of K Chandrasekhar Rao’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
Additionally, exit polls indicate potential electoral gains for the BJP in Tamil Nadu, securing at least two seats, and one seat in Kerala.
