New Delhi, September 5: Voting for the byelections in seven Assembly seats across six States begins amid tight security positioning.
Voting, which started at 7 this morning, will conclude at 6 pm and includes assembly constituencies of Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, Bageshwar in Uttarakhand, Puthupally in Kerala, Dhanpur and Boxanagar in Tripura, Dhupguri in West Bengal and Dumri in Jharkhand.
Pertinently, the most discussed among these is Ghosi, the seat from Uttar Pradesh. Dara Singh Chauhan of the BJP candidate is in the fray from here.
Apart from this, Bageshwar, the seat of Uttarakhand, is also important. The main contest here is between the BJP and the Congress. There is conflict between the BJP and regional parties on other seats. Voting has started in Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly seats in the Sipahijala district of Tripura. During this period, a large number of security personnel have been deployed. Voting will be held until 4 p.m. People queued up at polling booths in Dhupguri in West Bengal, Dumri in Jharkhand, and Pudupalli in Kerala. So far, no obstruction or violence has been reported from all places during the general polling.
