The foldable phone market in India is set to expand with the imminent launch of the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. Following the success of models like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, OnePlus Open, and Oppo Find N2 Flip, Vivo is ready to introduce its first foldable device in the country on June 6.
Vivo India announced the launch date on their official X handle, stating, “Meet the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. This is more than just another fold phone. This is India’s best fold ever. It’s slimmer, lighter, brighter, bigger, and more powerful than any other fold phone you’ve seen before. Stay tuned.” A teaser video accompanying the announcement confirmed the launch date.
The launch date was initially revealed on Vivo’s microsite, leading to speculation that it was accidentally disclosed before the official announcement.
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will be available for purchase through Flipkart, Vivo India’s online store, and offline retail channels. Priced at 9,999 yuan in China (approximately Rs 1.17 lakh), it is expected to be priced under Rs 1.5 lakh in India. The official launch in India is scheduled for June 6.
Initially introduced in March 2023, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is Vivo’s first foldable phone to launch outside China. The Indian version is expected to have similar specifications to its global counterpart. Leaks and rumours have provided insights into the phone’s potential features.
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro may be the first foldable phone to incorporate a Carbon Fibre Keel component in its hinge mechanism, enhancing both its lightweight nature and durability. TUV Rheinland testing has confirmed that the device can endure up to 500,000 folds, equivalent to about 12 years of usage.
The device will feature dual displays: a 6.53-inch cover display and an 8.03-inch inner AMOLED LTPO folding display. Both displays offer a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+, with peak brightness reaching 4,500 nits.
A previous teaser highlighted the use of ZEISS optics in the camera system and showcased the phone’s lightweight design, weighing just 236 grams and measuring 11.2mm thick when folded, thanks to the 14.98-gram carbon fiber hinge.
The X Fold 3 Pro is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, coupled with an Adreno GPU for enhanced graphics performance. The device may offer up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS4.0 storage, running on OriginOS 4 based on Android 14.
For photography enthusiasts, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is anticipated to feature a sophisticated camera setup, including a 50-megapixel ultra-sensing primary camera with OIS, a 64-megapixel 3x telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. A 32-megapixel front camera is expected to cater to selfies and video calls. Additionally, the device is likely to be equipped with a 5,700mAh battery.
