The Indian Railways will implement a new timetable from January 1, introducing significant changes to train schedules, speeds, and stoppages. Originally planned for September and later October, the timetable has undergone revisions and is now finalized. While no new trains have been proposed, several new trains introduced earlier this year have been incorporated into the updated schedule. These changes are particularly noticeable in the Moradabad division, where the timings of several trains have been adjusted.
Several trains have seen their schedules extended, stoppages increased, or frequencies enhanced. Key stations like Moradabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Laksar, Haridwar, Roorkee, Najibabad, Chandausi, Hapur, Sitapur City, and Gajraula have experienced increased stoppage durations. At Moradabad station, 41 trains that previously stopped for eight minutes will now halt for ten minutes. Similarly, at Bareilly, 19 trains have had their stoppage time extended from two to five minutes. Furthermore, the maximum speed of three trains has been increased from 100 km/h to 110 km/h, while operational terminals for six trains have been altered at their originating stations.
In the Moradabad division, six train numbers have also been changed, and 66 passenger trains now feature a ‘1’ added to their initial zero in their serial numbers. Increased speeds and streamlined schedules for trains originating from or passing through the division are expected to reduce travel times between their departure and destination points. The Anand Vihar Terminal–Bapudham Motihari Express will now run three days a week instead of two.
This year’s new timetable also includes several important trains introduced earlier, such as the Amritsar–Lalkuan Express (15015/16), Dehradun–Tanakpur Express (15019/20), Lucknow–Dehradun Vande Bharat Express (22545/46), Meerut–Lucknow Vande Bharat Express (22489/90), Anand Vihar Terminal–Rudrapur Weekly Express (14011/12), and Bandra Terminal–Lalkuan Weekly Express (22543/44).
Speed improvements have been implemented in sections such as Roza–Lalkuan, Moradabad–Saharanpur, and Meerut City–Khurja, where trains will now operate at a maximum speed of 110 km/h instead of 100 km/h.
Additionally, trains like the Upasana Express, Rajya Rani Express, Himgiri Express, Amarnath Express, Lohit Express, Kashi Vishwanath Express, Satyagraha Express, and several others will maintain their earlier schedules, but their stoppages at Moradabad have been extended to ten minutes. The changes aim to improve operational efficiency and provide passengers with a more convenient and time-saving travel experience.
