Lucknow, 07 Sept (HS): According to Muslim clerics in Uttar Pradesh, Udhayanidhi Stalin has no right to harm the feelings of Sanatan Dharma adherents and must apologize for his views on one of the oldest religions in the world. Many of them, from both Sunni and Shia organisations, requested that the anti-BJP INDIA coalition clarify the DMK leader and Tamil Nadu minister’s remarks, accusing them of attempting to divide India on religious lines.
It’s a derogatory remark, and Udhayanidhi Stalin should apologize for disparaging one of the world’s oldest religions. Nobody has the authority to offend people’s feelings. In addition, the anti-BJP front INDIA has to explain its position on Sanatan Dharma, said Maulana Habib Haider, a leading Shia cleric and general secretary of the Shia Sunni Ulema Front.
Shahbuddin Rizvi, president of the All India Muslim Jamaat Maulana and a member of the Barelvi school of thought, claimed Udhayanidhi had no right to malign any faith. Such utterances separate people on religious grounds. Religions are meant to unite people rather than divide them based on caste, he remarked.
Similar thoughts were expressed by Abu Zafar Nomani, a Sunni imam from the Deobandi school of thought, who stated that such anti-religious utterances might lead to anarchy. Any remarks that endanger law and order should be avoided. I believe (Udhayanidhi) Stalin should apologize for his remark, Nomani remarked. Udhayanidhi Stalin made the offensive statements on Saturday at an event in Tamil Nadu, equating Sanatan Dharma to illnesses like as dengue and malaria.
Political parties reacted angrily to his statements, with the BJP demanding that the Congress reject its ally’s words. In his speech to the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association (TNPWAA) in Chennai last week, the DMK leader compared Sanatan Dharma to coronavirus, malaria, and dengue fever, saying that such things should not be opposed but destroyed. As the outcry grew, he stated that he had not urged for violence against Sanatan Dharma devotees.
