Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to lead the government for a third consecutive term, with the BJP-led NDA securing a majority in the Lok Sabha, despite significant losses in three Hindi heartland states. The elections, marked by intense campaigning and projected as a referendum on Narendra Modi’s popularity, concluded with the Election Commission of India declaring results for 542 out of the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies. The BJP secured 240 seats, while the Congress won 99.
