The Vande Bharat driver’s timely action on Monday prevented a potentially catastrophic accident from occurring.
At approximately 9:55 am, shortly after the train had passed Chittorgarh, the driver observed stones, pebbles, and track connecting clips deliberately placed on the rail track, prompting him to bring the train to a halt. Fortunately, no damage occurred, and once the situation was discovered, the track was promptly cleared to allow the train to proceed.
FIR registered
As per an official from the North Western Railway (NWR), unidentified individuals made an effort to sabotage the railway route. The official also conveyed that an FIR has been filed at the Gangrar police station in Chittorgarh in relation to this incident.
What did officials say about the matter?
Shashi Kiran, the Chief PRO of NWR, stated that the locomotive engineer of the Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express reported to authorities the intentional placement of a two-foot-long rod, along with ballast and stones, on the rail track between Gangrar and Soniyana. This particular section of the railway network falls under the jurisdiction of the Ajmer division of NWR and is situated in the Chittorgarh district. Kiran further mentioned that the alert locomotive engineer swiftly brought the train to a stop, cleared the obstructions, and promptly reported the incident to senior officials.
Severe actions to be taken against the Culprit
Officials from both the Government Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force conducted an examination at the location, and they conveyed their intention to pursue severe measures against the individuals accountable for this act of sabotage.
Vande Bharat Express has Faced Multiple Stone Pelting Incidents Across India
Incidents involving attempted stone pelting on the Vande Bharat Express have been reported from various parts of the country. In May, the North Western Railway (NWR) documented 13 incidents of stone pelting on the Ajmer-Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat train, resulting in damage to the train’s glass panes. It’s worth noting that the Ajmer-Delhi Cantt route was the inaugural Vande Bharat train route in Rajasthan, launched in April.
