Udaipur is experiencing heightened tension following a stabbing incident involving a class 10 student at a government school. The situation escalated into communal violence, prompting the Udaipur administration to suspend internet services for 24 hours starting Friday. The decision was made to manage the deteriorating law and order situation in the city, as stated in the official notification from the administration.
The student accused of the stabbing has been detained by the police. In response to the violence, Udaipur District Collector Arvind Poswal has ordered all schools and colleges in the city to remain closed until further notice. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of students and staff amid the unrest.
BJP MLA Phool Singh Meena described the incident as “tragic” and called for severe measures, including the demolition of the accused’s house to prevent further violence. He compared the current situation to the previous unrest during the Kanhaiyalal murder case, underscoring the urgency of addressing communal tensions.
Poswal also mentioned that the student involved in the stabbing has suffered complications related to his kidney, prompting the involvement of expert doctors from private hospitals. An FIR has been registered against unidentified individuals for the violence that ensued, and prohibitory orders have been imposed in the district to maintain order.
The internet suspension and closure of educational institutions reflect the seriousness of the situation as authorities continue their investigation into the stabbing incident. The administration and police are working to restore normalcy while addressing the communal unrest that has affected Udaipur.
