State BJP President B Y Vijayendra responded to the Karnataka High Court’s decision on Friday, which restrained the CID from arresting his father and former chief minister B S Yediyurappa in a POCSO case, expressing confidence that justice will prevail.
Earlier today, the high court intervened, preventing the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from taking custody of the veteran BJP leader amidst allegations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The court instructed Mr. Yediyurappa to appear before the CID for questioning on June 17.
In a social media post on X, Mr. Vijayendra remarked, “…blessings of people of Karnataka and their prayers has paid off in the temple of justice. Political conspiracies have always followed Yediyurappa. Without losing heart, he will gain victory over these conspiracies by following the path of justice.” He emphasized his father’s commitment to cooperating with investigations, citing the court’s decision as a testament to his respect for the law.
“It is our firm belief that the truth will prevail in the temple of justice in the coming days,” he added.
Earlier, a Bengaluru court issued a non-bailable warrant against Mr. Yediyurappa in the case registered on March 14 this year. The CID’s Special Investigation Team had sought the warrant after Mr. Yediyurappa failed to attend questioning on Wednesday, requesting additional time to participate in the investigation.
According to the police, Mr. Yediyurappa faces allegations under the POCSO Act and Section 354 A (Sexual harassment) of the IPC, based on a complaint by the mother of a 17-year-old girl. The complaint alleges that he molested her daughter during a meeting on February 2 this year at his residence in Dollars Colony, Bengaluru.
Mr. Yediyurappa has firmly denied the accusations, asserting his intention to contest the case through legal means. He had filed two separate petitions in the high court seeking anticipatory bail and the quashing of the FIR.
The case has drawn significant attention amid political and legal developments, underscoring ongoing scrutiny and public interest in the outcome.
