Dehradun, 21 August : The trouble is increasing due to incidents of landslides with rains and rising water levels in rivers. In the mountainous districts, traffic is full of dangers on the routes, which are constantly blocked due to the breaking of mountains. A total of 187 roads, including four borders, are blocked in the state. In view of the orange and yellow alerts in the state until August 25, all the district magistrates and disaster departments have been put on alert mode by the government.
It rained intermittently during the night. Since Monday morning, there have been showers of rain in Dehradun and other places. For the last two days, people were troubled by the scorching sun in the surrounding areas of Doon due to the sultry heat in the weather. The rains on Sunday and Monday brought respite from the sultry heat, but the roads and square intersections of Doon were submerged. Till this afternoon, the Sun God is hidden under the cover of the clouds. Heavy rain is expected in isolated places in the state for the next few days. The water level of Haridwar Ganga is 291.90, which is below the danger mark. The water level of Tehri Dam is 819.60 metres.
Many villages in the area of Kalsi Tehsil, Jaunsar Babar, and Dehradun district remain extremely vulnerable from the point of view of disaster. Landslides have increased after heavy rains in Khamrauli village, Bamtad Khat, Kalsi tehsil. Along with houses, the buildings of primary schools and panchayat houses have also come under its purview. These cracks are now widening in this village of 50 families. Due to this, 25 houses have come under threat. A total of 28 families have been affected by landslides in Madsu Majra Jakhan in Vikas Nagar, Dehradun. There is danger in these villages even further. All the families have been shifted from here.
Secretary, Disaster Management, Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha, has sought a preliminary report from the District Magistrate regarding Jakhan and Khamrauli in Dehradun district. Apart from sending a team of experts to investigate the cause of the landslide, other steps are being taken.
Orange alert for six districts for August 24 in the state; yellow alert for August 25 for all the districts of the state. From today (Monday) to August 23, 24, there is an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thundershowers at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Champawat, Nainital, and Bageshwar, while other districts There is a warning of a yellow alert. On August 22, yellow was issued for Dehradun, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Nainital, Orange in Bageshwar, and other districts.
About 187 other roads, including four border roads and 12 state roads, are blocked in the border district of Pithoragarh due to incessant rains in the state. The work of opening these closed routes is going on.
Since June 15, 78 people have lost their lives in the state, while 47 are injured and 18 are missing. A total of 60 people have died in road accidents in the state, while 185 people are injured and 03 are missing.
