In response to the tragic collapse of a wall in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district, which resulted in the deaths of nine children, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has ordered a significant reshuffling of top officials. The transfers include key positions in the district’s administration and police force.
Late on Sunday night, Chief Minister Yadav issued orders removing several senior officials from their posts. Sagar District Collector Deepak Arya has been reassigned to the state secretariat in Bhopal, where he will serve as Deputy Secretary. Sandeep GR, currently the Collector of Chhattarpur, has been appointed as the new Collector of Sagar. Parth Jaiswal, who is presently the CEO of Chhindwara District Panchayat, will take over Sandeep GR’s previous role in Chhattarpur.
In addition to the administrative changes, the Chief Minister has also transferred Sagar’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Tiwari to the role of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) at the police headquarters in Bhopal. Vikas Kumar Sahwal, the current SP of Raisen, will replace Tiwari as the new SP of Sagar.
The Chief Minister has also taken action against the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Sagar, whose transfer is part of the broader shake-up. Furthermore, Dr. Hariom Bansal, posted at the Shahpur Primary Health Center, has been suspended immediately on charges of negligence.
These decisive actions come in the wake of the deadly incident that has prompted a reassessment of local administrative and police oversight in the region.
