In an ongoing operation, a joint team of security forces neutralized three terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district today.
While the operation is still in progress in the forward area of Uri, specifically Hathlanga in Baramulla district, the Indian Army informed that out of the three terrorists killed, only the bodies of two have been recovered. The retrieval of the body of the third terrorist is being hindered by firing from a Pakistani post in the vicinity.
It is pertinent to note that this is the third time this week that a team of joint security officials has engaged in a fierce gun battle with terrorists – first in Rajouri (two terrorists killed), then in Anantnag, followed by today’s encounter in Baramulla.
Elaborating on the details of today’s Operation ‘Khanda’, the Indian Army said, “In a joint operation launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Intelligence agencies, an infiltration attempt was foiled this morning along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri Sector of Baramulla. Three terrorists attempted to infiltrate and were engaged by alert troops.”
“Two terrorists have been eliminated and their bodies recovered. The third terrorist was killed, but retrieval of the body is being hindered by firing from a Pakistani post in the vicinity along the LoC. The operation is in progress,” added the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army.
Meanwhile, in the Anantnag district of Kashmir today (on the fourth day), Indian security forces resumed their ongoing encounter with terrorists holed up in a cave atop a hill in the Gadul forest of Kokernag. According to the reports, strict vigilance is being followed in the area and forces are using rocket launchers and drones to drop bombs, targeting the suspected hideout. Unfortunately, this operation has already resulted in the martyrdom of four security personnel.
