The Noida administration’s decision to begin a survey of weekly markets operating around various sectors and villages has been welcomed by the Sector 34 RWA Federation. The federation expressed gratitude to the Chief Executive Officer for initiating the process, stating that unorganized weekly markets have been causing major traffic congestion, security concerns, and inconvenience for local residents for a long time.

According to the federation, weekly markets operating in an unplanned manner on major roads have severely affected traffic movement in several sectors. Heavy crowds and unauthorized roadside stalls often lead to long traffic jams, making daily commuting difficult for residents and motorists alike. The survey is being viewed as an important step toward improving urban traffic management and public safety in the city.

Unorganized Markets Creating Traffic and Security Challenges

Sector 34 RWA Federation President K.K. Jain stated that weekly markets set up on main roads regularly lead to severe traffic congestion. He said the situation not only wastes commuters’ time but also affects the movement of ambulances and emergency services in many areas.

Residents have reportedly raised concerns that roads become heavily crowded during market hours, leaving little space for smooth vehicular movement. In several cases, people face delays in entering or exiting residential sectors because of roadside encroachments by vendors and temporary stalls.

Jain also pointed out that overcrowding in these markets has led to an increase in incidents such as chain snatching and mobile phone theft. Residents, especially women and elderly citizens, often feel unsafe due to the uncontrolled crowd situation.

More Than 1,000 Shops Operating in Sector 34

The federation claimed that the situation in Sector 34 has become particularly serious. According to RWA representatives, more than 1,000 shops and temporary stalls are currently operating on the main roads of the sector, while the authority had originally permitted only around 400 vendors.

The excessive number of stalls has reportedly resulted in blocked roads, parking problems, and increased pressure on civic infrastructure. Local residents say they face major difficulties in accessing their homes during market hours, while sanitation and cleanliness management have also become challenging.

Residents have demanded that the administration identify permanent and organized locations for weekly markets so that both vendors and citizens can function without disruption. They believe proper planning can significantly reduce traffic and law-and-order issues.

Demand to Include RWA Representatives in Planning Team

K.K. Jain requested that representatives from concerned RWAs should be included in the team responsible for identifying locations for weekly markets. According to him, local residents understand ground-level issues more effectively and can provide practical suggestions for better market management.

The federation believes that cooperation between resident welfare associations and the administration can help create a more balanced and organized system. This approach could protect the livelihoods of vendors while also reducing inconvenience faced by residents.

Survey Seen as Important Step Toward Urban Management

With Noida witnessing rapid population growth and expanding commercial activity, the number and scale of weekly markets have also increased significantly. Urban planning experts believe that scientific management of such markets is now essential for maintaining smooth city operations.

Officials and residents alike expect that the ongoing survey could eventually help frame a structured policy regarding weekly market operations. If markets are shifted to designated areas and traffic planning is implemented effectively, the city may witness major improvements in mobility, safety, and civic convenience.
