The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has taken a significant step toward safeguarding farmers’ interests by issuing reservation letters for 7 percent residential plots to farmers of Tirthali village in Sector-29. The move is being viewed as a major relief for hundreds of farmers who had been waiting for the allotment process to move forward for a long time. The initiative also highlights the authority’s focus on balancing industrial development with rehabilitation and welfare of local landowners.

As part of the process, reservation letters were formally issued for farmers whose land falls under the development plan of Sector-29. Farmer Virendra Kumar received the reservation letter directly, while reservation documents for 588 other farmers were dispatched through the land records department via postal services. Officials stated that the entire process has been carried out with transparency to ensure timely delivery of benefits to eligible farmers.

Sector-29 Emerging as a Major Development Hub

Sector-29 has rapidly emerged as one of the key development zones under the Yamuna Expressway region. The proposed Apparel Park project in the area is expected to attract major investments and generate large-scale employment opportunities in the coming years. Alongside industrial expansion, YEIDA has accelerated the process of providing residential plots to affected farmers as part of its rehabilitation framework.

According to officials, the 7 percent residential plots will provide long-term economic and social security to farmers. The developed plots are expected to gain significant market value in the future as infrastructure and commercial activities continue to expand in the area.

Reservation Letters Sent to 588 Farmers

In a large-scale administrative exercise, reservation letters were issued for a total of 589 farmers connected to the Sector-29 development project. While one farmer received the document symbolically, the remaining letters were sent through postal channels to streamline the process and avoid delays.

The decision has generated a positive response among villagers, many of whom had been waiting for clarity regarding plot allotment and rehabilitation benefits. Farmers believe the move marks a crucial milestone and strengthens confidence in the authority’s commitment toward fair compensation and rehabilitation policies.

Physical Possession of Developed Plots Soon

YEIDA has clarified that issuing reservation letters is only the first step in the process. The authority is now working toward developing the allotted plots with proper infrastructure before handing over physical possession to farmers. Roads, drainage systems, electricity networks and other civic amenities are being planned as part of the development work in Sector-29.

Officials stated that providing fully developed plots will help improve the standard of living of affected families while also creating opportunities for future commercial and residential growth. The authority’s integrated development approach aims to ensure that farmers also benefit from the rapid urbanization taking place in the Yamuna Expressway region.

Balancing Industrial Growth and Farmers’ Rights

With industrial investments and infrastructure projects expanding rapidly along the Yamuna Expressway corridor, protecting farmers’ interests has remained a key concern. The issuance of 7 percent residential plot reservation letters in Sector-29 reflects YEIDA’s attempt to maintain a balance between industrial expansion and rehabilitation of local communities.

Experts believe such initiatives can strengthen trust between development authorities and farmers, especially in regions witnessing large-scale land acquisition and urban transformation. The Sector-29 model is also being seen as an example of inclusive development where industrial progress and rural welfare move forward together.
