Television actor Mohsin Khan, widely known for his portrayal of Kartik Goenka in the long-running Star Plus show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has recently disclosed that he suffered a heart attack at the age of 31. The actor, who had planned a significant break after completing 1,800 episodes of the popular soap opera, saw his recovery period extended due to his health issues.
In a candid conversation with Pinkvilla, Mohsin Khan, now 32, shared his health struggles. “I hadn’t anticipated such a long hiatus. My initial plan was to take a break for about a year and a half after finishing 1,800 episodes. However, my plans changed drastically when I fell ill,” Mohsin Khan revealed. He explained that he developed a fatty liver condition, which led to a mild heart attack. This health setback was previously undisclosed to the public, and Mohsin Khan admitted to being hospitalized multiple times as he sought treatment.
The actor disclosed that his condition required him to switch hospitals three times, significantly impacting his overall health and immunity. “My immunity weakened, and I found myself falling sick frequently. Thankfully, I am now on the mend and my condition is under control,” Mohsin Khan noted. He also explained that his condition, known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, is linked to poor sleep patterns and unhealthy eating habits. Mohsin Khan stressed the importance of being aware of such health issues, despite their prevalence.
Mohsin Khan began his journey with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai in 2016 and continued to star in nearly 1,800 episodes until 2018. Reflecting on his decade-long career, he said, “I have spent 10 years in the industry, with 7.5 of those years continuously working. After such an extensive run, I felt the need for a break. Unfortunately, my illness extended this break significantly.” Prior to his role in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Mohsin Khan appeared in the Star Plus series Nisha Aur Uske Cousins and worked as an assistant director on the 2014 film Koyelaanchal.
Mohsin Khan’s revelation sheds light on the often-overlooked health risks faced by individuals in high-pressure professions and emphasizes the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
