Paris witnessed a significant discussion on artificial intelligence and digital transformation as Google CEO Sundar Pichai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit. Their conversation revolved around AI’s immense potential for India and the collaborative efforts between Google and the Indian government in driving digital progress.
Taking to social media, Pichai expressed his enthusiasm about the meeting, stating, “Delighted to meet with PM @narendramodi today while in Paris for the AI Action Summit. We discussed the incredible opportunities AI will bring to India and ways we can work closely together on India’s digital transformation.”
The summit, which focused on advancing global AI policies, saw PM Modi emphasizing the need for a structured AI framework while underlining the importance of upskilling for an AI-powered future. Speaking on the transformative power of artificial intelligence, Modi reassured the audience that despite technological advancements, the future remains in human hands. “We are at the dawn of the AI age that will shape the course of humanity. Some people worry about machines becoming superior in intelligence to humans. But no one holds the key to our collective future and shared destiny other than us humans,” he stated.
The event also witnessed remarks from newly elected U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who echoed Modi’s sentiment. Vance highlighted AI’s potential to boost productivity rather than replace human capabilities. “AI, I really believe, will facilitate and make people more productive. It is not going to replace human beings, it will never replace human beings,” he said.
In addition to the AI summit, PM Modi also addressed the India-France CEOs Forum, reinforcing the deepening economic and technological partnership between the two nations. Addressing the gathering, Modi described the forum as “more than just a business event” and a space where Indian and French business leaders converge to drive innovation and progress. “You are embracing the mantra of innovation, collaboration, and elevation, driving progress with purpose. Beyond forging boardroom connections, you are actively reinforcing the strategic partnership between India and France,” he said.
Encouraging foreign investments in India, Modi extended an open invitation to global businesses, highlighting the country’s rapid economic progress. He cited the aviation sector as a prime example of India’s growth trajectory. “I tell all of you that this is the time to come to India, this is the right time. The progress of all sectors is linked to the progress of India. An example of this was seen in the aviation sector. When Indian companies have placed big orders for aircraft. Now when we are going to open 120 new airports, you can imagine the future possibilities,” he remarked.
The visit reinforced India’s strategic position in the AI landscape while strengthening bilateral ties with France. With growing collaborations between global tech leaders and the Indian government, the discussions in Paris marked another step forward in shaping a digitally empowered future.
