New Delhi, 1 February (HS):The union Sports Ministry has changed the process of applying for the cash award scheme for medal winners and their coaches in international events.

An official release said that the process has been modified to bring improvements in the cash prize scheme.

According to the release, Applicants in respect of eligible events that happened before August 11, 2022, are given a one-time opportunity to apply under the cash prize scheme up to April 30, 2023. Applications can only be submitted through the DBT-MIS portal of the Department of Sports (https: http://dbtvassports.gov.in). No physical application will be accepted.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) organized its first Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) meeting on January 19 and 20 outside Delhi and during the Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The meeting, where MOC members meet to discuss key agenda points of India’s Olympic program and proposals for Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) athletes, was held in Bhubaneswar.

Normally, MOC members from all over India visit Delhi every month to discuss agenda related to TOPS. Due to Corona, the meetings were moved to a virtual platform so that the athletes do not suffer due to the delay. After the lockdown, the meetings have adopted a hybrid approach where one meeting a month is held virtually, while the other is held as a physical meeting.
