Karachi, 30 January (HS): Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik feels he still has a lot of cricket left in him and is hopeful that he can make a comeback into the Pakistan T20 team.
Malik, who will turn 41 on February 1, has already retired from Tests and ODIs but hasn’t pulled out of T20 Internationals. He last played for Pakistan against Bangladesh in November 2021 and has not been selected for the team since then.
Malik has continued to play in various franchise-based T20 tournaments with considerable success and feels he still has the hunger to perform at the highest level.
Trust me, even though I am the oldest in the team, you can compare my fitness with that of a 25-year-old player. As long as I have my fitness, I can do it, Malik told reporters at the Sylhet International Stadium on Sunday. I will keep playing cricket and hence I am not even thinking of retirement.
He said, “I want to retire from international cricket and complete cricket forever, but right now I am not even thinking about it and I enjoy my cricket whenever I get a chance. Already retired from Test and ODI cricket. But yes I am still available for T20 and will give my best wherever I get the opportunity.
