In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony on Sunday, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has issued a ban on the use of various sub-conventional aerial platforms. These include para-gliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, quadcopters, and even para-jumping from aircraft on June 9 and June 10.
Concerns have been raised regarding potential threats to public safety, dignitaries, and vital installations by criminal or anti-social elements, as well as terrorists hostile to India. The ban aims to mitigate risks associated with these sub-conventional aerial platforms, which could be utilized by such elements to disrupt the peace and security of the event.
The order, issued by the Commissioner of Police, states that engaging in the aforementioned activities during the specified period will be deemed punishable offenses. The ban will be enforced from June 9 and will remain in effect for two days, until June 10, unless withdrawn earlier.
This proactive measure underscores the authorities’ commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all individuals attending the oath ceremony, as well as safeguarding critical infrastructure and installations in the national capital.
