New Delhi, 28 August : The Supreme Court has refused to stay the removal of encroachments on railway land near the Krishna Janmasthan in Mathura. The Supreme Court has asked the petitioner to approach the lower court. A bench headed by Justice Aniruddha Bose said that the lower court should hear on the basis of merit.
In fact, on August 16, the Supreme Court refused to extend the stay beyond August 25 by imposing a 10-day stay on the anti-encroachment drive near Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura. The railway is taking demolition action against the people living near its tracks. On August 14, the railways took demolition action on the encroached houses with JCB machines.
The petitioner claims that the demolition process should be stopped on the grounds that people have been living there for more than 100 years. The petitioner had submitted that the railways have already removed a lot of encroachments. Now 70–80 houses are left. Save them from breaking.
