In a significant development, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, a Member of Parliament from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), has been appointed as India’s Civil Aviation Minister in the latest cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At the age of 36, Ram Mohan Naidu now holds the distinction of being the youngest minister in the NDA 3.0 government.
The announcement regarding the allocation of portfolios was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. Ram Mohan Naidu, a prominent leader within the TDP and National General Secretary, played a crucial role in the NDA’s impressive performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.
Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, Ram Mohan Naidu was born on December 18, 1987, into a family with a rich political legacy. His father, the late Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu, was a notable leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and served as the youngest Cabinet Minister in 1996. His mother, Vijayakumari Kinjarapu, and his uncle, Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, further cement the family’s involvement in politics.
Educationally, Ram Mohan Naidu holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Long Island University, both in the USA. Following his education, he briefly worked in Singapore before venturing into politics in 2012 after his father’s tragic demise in a car accident.
Ram Mohan Naidu made his political debut at the age of 26 when he contested and won the Lok Sabha seat from Srikakulam in 2014, emerging as the second youngest MP in the 16th Lok Sabha. His consecutive victories in the 2019 and 2024 elections further solidified his position in Andhra Pradesh politics.
In the latest electoral bout, Ram Mohan Naidu secured a resounding victory over Perada Tilak of the YSR Congress Party, winning by a margin of over 3 lakh votes. This landslide triumph marks his third consecutive win from the Srikakulam constituency.
Within the TDP, Ram Mohan Naidu has held key positions, including that of National General Secretary. He has also served as the party’s floor leader in the previous Lok Sabha. Notably, he has been honored with the Sansad Ratna Award in 2020 for his outstanding performance as an MP. Ram Mohan Naidu tied the knot with Sravya Bandaru in 2017.
