An unidentified terrorist was killed in an ongoing gunfight that erupted in the Aragam area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday night, police sources informed India Today. Initial reports indicated that two terrorists were hiding in the area.
This incident follows a high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, focusing on the security situation in Jammu & Kashmir. During the meeting, Amit Shah instructed top officials to deliver a “strong response” to the emerging terrorism in the Jammu region.
In response to the recent terror attack in the Jammu region, Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan is set to visit Jammu today to assess the security situation. He is expected to hold a meeting at the White Knight Corps headquarters in Nagrota, where he will be briefed on the current security status.
Over the past two weeks, terrorists have attacked four locations in the Reasi, Kathua, and Doda districts of Jammu & Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals, including a CRPF jawan. On June 12, security forces gunned down two suspected Pakistani terrorists in Kathua district and recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition from them.
The ongoing operations and high-level meetings underscore the escalating efforts by Indian security forces to counter terrorism in the region.
