Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during a public rally in Delhi’s Najafgarh area on Thursday, returned the silver crown offered to him and proposing that it be repurposed into anklets for a girl from a disadvantaged family.
Rajnath Singh, campaigning for BJP candidate Kamaljeet Sehrawat in the West Delhi parliamentary constituency, declined the silver crown presented to him by former BJP legislator Ajeet Singh Kharkhari. Instead, he suggested that the crown be sold after the Lok Sabha elections and the proceeds used to make anklets for the marriage of a girl from an economically challenged background.
During the rally, Rajnath Singh also launched scathing remarks against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of tarnishing the reputation of Delhi by engaging in corrupt practices.
Rajnath Singh criticized Arvind Kejriwal’s governance, highlighting issues such as safety for women and alleging betrayal of his mentor Anna Hazare.
The Defence Minister also questioned the AAP’s alliance with the Congress, labeling them as the ‘B’ team of Congress within the INDIA bloc.
Delhi is set to witness a fierce electoral battle in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with all seven parliamentary seats up for grabs. The contest primarily involves the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the INDIA bloc, consisting of AAP and Congress.
Polling in Delhi spans seven parliamentary constituencies, scheduled for the sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The AAP and Congress have formed an alliance, with the AAP contesting four seats and Congress three.
The voting process commenced in April and will continue until June, with results expected to be announced on June 4.
