Singer Casandra Ventura, also known as Cassie, broke her silence on Thursday regarding domestic violence, following the emergence of a video showing her being assaulted by rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
In her first public comments since the incident, Ventura took to Instagram to address the issue, although she did not directly mention Combs. She expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support she received from her supporters and acknowledged the impact of domestic violence on her life.
Ventura’s remarks come a week after CNN aired hotel security footage from 2016, showing Combs apparently assaulting her by hitting, dragging, and kicking her.
In November last year, Ventura filed a federal court lawsuit against Combs, accusing him of repeated abuse. The lawsuit was settled for an undisclosed amount, with Combs not admitting any wrongdoing.
Combs issued an apology two days after the video surfaced, describing his behavior as “inexcusable.”
Ventura’s statement also comes amidst another civil lawsuit filed against Combs by former model Crystal McKinney, who alleges that he pressured her to become intoxicated and engage in sexual activities.
In her Instagram post, Ventura urged everyone to believe victims of domestic violence and emphasized the importance of support in her healing journey.
Ventura and Combs began their relationship when she was 19 and he was 37, after which he signed her to his recording label.
This incident sheds light on the ongoing issue of domestic violence and the importance of supporting victims.
